Phase-I SBI PO Prelims Syllabus (Preliminary examination)

Here we are giving the SBI PO Pre Syllabus, take a glance at this. This SBI Prelims exam consisting of objective type questions for 100 marks and it will be conducted online and should be marked using mouse. The test would be for 1 hour duration. For correct answer would be awarded 1 mark and for wrong answer1/4th mark will be detected. Candidates have to note that in the Preliminary exam which has sectional cut-offs. The SBI Prelims exam pattern is as follows

Phase-II SBI PO Mains Syllabus (Main Examination)

The SBI Mains exam consists of two parts, objective test and descriptive test.

In Objective Test

  • A) It consists of multiple choice questions in four sections which are conducted for 200 marks.
  • B) The time duration for this mains examination is 3 hours.
  • C) The cutoff are applied in two stages i.e., sectional cutoff and overall cutoff.
  • D) For each wrong answer 1/4 th  mark is deducted as penalty.

Descriptive Test: The descriptive test is conducted on English language (Essay writing and Letter writing for 50 marks with 30 minutes duration. The Descriptive test is conducted online and candidates have to answer the descriptive test by typing on the computer. For this test the typing speed has to be more as the time duration is only 60 min.

The topic for Essay writing is mainly based on the current Socio – Economic issue, Economic Issue. And for Letter Writing topic can be Business letter, Personal Letter, Complaint Letter etc.

Mostly there are 3 choices given and one has to select any one among the available choices.

  • The candidates are required to qualify separately in both the test i.e., objective test and descriptive test.

Phase-III Group Discussion (20 Marks) and Interview (30 Marks)

The candidates who clear the cutoff score (as decided by the bank) in Main examination will be called upon for Group discussion and Personal interview where the candidates will have to face the interview board. The maximum marks allocated for Group discussion and interview are 20 and 30 respectively.

Final Selection

The marks obtained in Preliminary examination are not added for the selection. The marks obtained in the Phase-II Main exam and Phase-III Group discussion and interview will be added for the preparation of final merit list. The candidates who are not qualified in both Phase-II and Phase-III are rejected. Marks secured in the written test (out of 250) are converted to 75 and 25 respectively. The final selection will be made from the top merit list ranked categories in each category.

The IBPS PO Eligibility criteria can be summarized in the form of the Age qualification, Nationality and the Educational qualification of the candidates. Let us understand the three types of eligibility criterions which are as follows:

Educational Qualifications:

As per the IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2016, the candidates must follow the following points:
The candidates must have in possession a Graduation Degree from any recognized university identified by the UGC and approved by AICTE.
The candidates must also have the proper documentation to prove their educational qualification at the time of application.
The candidates who are in the final year of their final year of graduation are also eligible to fill the IBPS PO Application form 2016.

Age Qualification:

In general the candidates who want to fill the application form must be aged between 20 years to 30 years of age. However, the constitution of India provides for age relaxation for the reserved categories.
Following table shows the age relaxation criteria for the reserved category candidates:

Features of the IBPS PO Main Exam Pattern 2016

  • The Main Exam will consist of 5 sections.
  • There will be 200 questions asked in the examination.
  • Every question will carry 1 mark and hence the total mark will be 100.
  • There will also be negative marking for every wrong answer which will be equivalent to ¼ of correct answer.
  • The candidates will get 2 hour to solve the 200 questions.
  • There will also be section wise cutoff.
